This week, following the arduino project presentations, we had our final class with Mr. Judhi where we talked about robots and artificial intelligence.

We went over the textbook definition of a robot, which is-

A reprogrammable multifunctional manipulator designed to move materials, parts, tools or specialized devices through various programmed motions for the performance of a variety of Tasks. (Robot Institute of America)

But in layman's terms,

Programmable Machine (Judhi)

We learnt the word 'Robot' originated from the Czech word 'Robota', which means a worker of forced labor.

We then went over Isaac Asimovs's 3 laws of Robotics:

•A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm

• A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law

• A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws

We were shown some real world examples of robots,

We then had a discussion on Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning

We were shown the Google DeepMind AI video and how the the character wa able to learn from it's mistake and follow the path better and better each time.

A day in your life with robots

Imagine you are living in the future where robots are easily available and affordable. What kind of robots you would like to have and how are they going to make your daily life easier and better? Write a science fiction story about a day in your life with robots around you

I imagine myself waking up to a breakfast in bed, premade by a cooking bot, then getting an audio notification from a speaker about the weather and events for the day (the same speaker that's present in every other room) and making my way down to my washroom, that had it's heater turned on an automatically half an hour before my alarm went off. After I shower, I walk to my wardrobe which selects my outfit for the day from a carefully curated list of clothes depending on the day (weekday or weekend). As all the electronics in my home turn off as soon as I leave my house, I step outside and get into my transportation pod that's directly connected to my office room where I begin my work. After I clock out from work, I get back to a fully cleaned home (thanks to my advanced robocleaners) and music starts playing from a randomly selected ambient playlist from Spotify. I have my premade dinner that had been served 30 seconds before my transportation pod looped me back home and then finally, I fall back to bed, waiting for the cycle to continue.
