This week's class started by finishing off the the activities from week 1 and once we brought closure to that, we proceeded to officially start this week's lecture.
We begun the class with 'Media Literacy II', Sir started the lecture with an explanation on our online presence and how we put our mark in the professional world. Our social interactions and networking skills are valuable tools in finding our ideal careers, we were told the importance of LinkedIn and were instructed to start our profiles and add our best work so that interested employers opportunities can approach us.
We then had a discussion on branding, and how it is essentially the image a company, product, team, corporation or country (basically everything) shows to the world and the reputation it's built on and the data it's valued for. A brand image can be conveyed through many means such as a specific product or more commonly, a logo. And with that we moved on to our first two activities.
Activity #1

Activity #2
What do you think of MDX Dubai's branding?
I think MDX has done a great job with their branding strategies. Their marketing reaches a wide audience with social media, such as using ads for MDX admissions on Instagram in the past and their connections with highschools guarantees students carrying forward with their higher studies to consider Middlesex Dubai ( I myself made my choice based on this :) ). Even despite these tactics, MDX is a very well known university across the UAE.
We then concluded this week's lecture on 'data persistence', to which I understood meant the digital footprint we leave behind. Someone, somewhere, may have access to the content we indulge ourselves in online on a server and we'll never be sure if what we deleted is genuinely erased off the face of the internet.
Before we left we were given a task to work in groups and submit a short documentary to advertise a gadget or software that we invent. The group went with my idea for RGB COLOR CHANGING PANTS ( yes. I know. ) I directed our models in the videos taken by Kurt, took the photos of our wonderful models Krish and Mark and made the poster (p.s, scan the barcode for a surprise ;) ) while the others had their own tasks with putting together the video and editing work.
